Ashuelot Covered Bridge (20 Hampshire Court, Ashuelot) Local historians have dubbed this one of New Hampshire’s most elaborate covered bridges. It was originally built as a way to get wood across the river for use by the Ashuelot Railroad as the railroad had a station located right in town.
Outlaw Brewing Company (215 Scotland Road, Winchester) Off the beaten path a bit in Winchester you’ll find this small craft brewery and tasting room. Small in size but big on variety of offerings. In the summer enjoy sitting their outside seating area and fire pits, complete with a resident food truck.
Tippin Rock Trail (Warmac Road, Swanzey) Less than two miles round trip, follow the trail to Tippin Rock and Hewes Hill Cliffs for stunning views of the countryside. A fun fact: Tippin Rock, a 40-ton rounded boulder, can be made to gently sway with a shove of the shoulder if you hit it in just the right place.
Keene Axe House (116 Main Street, Keene) If you haven’t tried the new phenomenon of wielding an axe at a target, better known as axe throwing, here’s your chance. Set your sights on downtown Keene to try this unique, exciting experience for yourself!
Horatio Colony Museum (199 Main Street, Keene) Located in the heart of downtown Keene, is this historic New England home turned museum, complete with period décor, artwork and gardens. The home built in 1806, is dedicated to preserving the collections of Horatio Colony and his family, whose history in the area dates back to the late 1700s.
Chesterfield Gorge Natural Area (1823 NH-9, Chesterfield) A beautiful, woodsy spot with great walking trails and footpaths that take you alongside a rocky gorge with beautiful waterfalls along the route. Easy access to the trail from the parking lot, the trail is less than a mile loop.
Walpole Creamery (532 Main Street, Walpole) Local, small batch ice cream made with fresh milk from cows just three miles down the road. Offering a great variety with flavors such as Fijan Ginger, Udder Joy and several seasonal specialties too.
