For more than 300 years people lived and worked in the neighborhood known as Puddle Dock, today Strawbery Banke Museum. On this ten-acre site, one hour north of Boston, the houses, shops, taverns and gardens continue to tell the stories of the generations who called this neighborhood home for almost four centuries of New England history. Through restored furnished houses, exhibits, period gardens, historic landscapes and costumed role players Strawbery Banke presents the story of the people who settled in Portsmouth, New Hampshire from the late 17th century to the mid-20th century. The Museum Shop supports Strawbery Banke’s educational activities by offering reproductions, books and other items related to the Museum’s narrative of the neighborhood’s evolution from 1690 to the 1950s. Strawbery Banke Museum offers unique spaces and historical settings for a wide variety of special events from small private gatherings and large corporate events. The museum has various spaces available to suit your needs including:
1. Flat open space on Puddle Dock, and other sites throughout the historic grounds, which are suitable for tents and have available electricity and water.
2. Interiors of a small selection of historic buildings, such as Pitt Tavern, that provide intimate settings for smaller gatherings.
3. TYCO Visitors Center which offers more modern conveniences and includes a media room and a lecture hall
4. More options may also be available depending on the needs of your event.

Weddings
Strawbery Banke Museum is a 10-acre outdoor living history museum in downtown Portsmouth. Wedding ceremonies are generally held outdoors under tents on the grounds and in the Goodwin Mansion garden, during the Museum's regular season May 1- October 31. Goodwin Garden is a lovely Victorian garden composed largely of bedding annuals – an example of a mid-to-late-19th century landscape. Goodwin Garden is a beautiful location for wedding ceremonies and intimate parties.
Strawbery Banke is no longer hosting “traditional” outdoor receptions/parties with music and dancing due to the close proximity to of residential neighbors (wedding ceremonies are still allowed). Outdoor gatherings with soft background music can still take place as well as indoor receptions (up to 80 people).
