From conquering some of the tallest peaks in the northeast to roaring through untamed wilderness on an ATV, you can have it all here in the Granite State. So this summer, get ready to gear up and make unforgettable memories that will leave you with one word to sum it all up: EPIC.
Adventure Calls
With so many exhilarating experiences and so little time, your first move is to map out which adventures call to you. If you’re looking to hike to great heights, the state is jam-packed with unbelievable hikes where larger-than-life summits and views that stretch on for miles reward your efforts. And with dozens of brag-worthy peaks studded across the state and 48 peaks over 4,000 feet in the White Mountains, you’ll have no trouble finding an awesome peak to conquer. Looking for a different way to see our landscapes from a bird's eye view? Try a high-speed zipline, take in the views of our mountainous terrain aboard a scenic helicopter ride, or earn your wings on a parasail ride above the Atlantic.
And don’t forget to hit the waters, where a world of even more adventures await. Like mastering the art of wakeboarding or jet skiing on a giant lake. But if watersports aren’t your thing, there are endless places to paddle where you can choose from Class IV rapids for a challenge or gentle waters to chill on. For the guarantee of fun, pay a visit and make a splash at one of the many awesome waterparks across the state.
Back on land, wilderness calls for exploration. Get out and carve through the state’s rugged terrain on one of the state’s legendary mountain biking trails. Or head north and rent an ATV to fully immerse yourself in New Hampshire’s wilderness. You can experience the raw adrenaline of riding on the state’s premier trail system connecting thousands of miles of off-roading tracks.
Switching Gears
In between adventures, be sure to make time to visit some of New Hampshire’s cultural attractions to round out your trip. If you’re headed through the Lakes Region, be sure to visit one of the longest running professional summer theatres in the country in Tamworth, known as The Barnstormers. The region also hosts big names in the music business and puts on incredible shows at The Bank of NH Pavilion in Gilford. On the Seacoast, keep the Prescott Park Arts Festival on your radar to experience live entertainment portside during this month-long celebration in July.
Rest Your Head
After an action-packed day, you’ll need a great home base to rest and recharge. There’s really no better way to unwind than by crowding around a crackling campfire, bragging about the feats of the day and toasting s’mores under constellation-filled skies at one of the state’s many
campgrounds. You could book one of
Milan Hill State Park's mountaintop yurts in the Great North Woods for an adventurous stay, or indulge in an easy
glamping experience in the White Mountains. Of course, there’s also quaint and cozy cabins and cottages to rest your head in, hotels, motels, resorts—and plenty more accommodating
places to stay.
